I wear many hats – from being a great cook to a social butterfly, occasionally taking on a bit too much. A firm believer in the power of a warm embrace, I'm the resident hugger, spreading positivity and connection in every kitchen I step into.
I've always had a deep love for cooking
But in 2019/2020, the toll of working in restaurants for the better part of my life left me feeling burnt out. Seeking a change, I took a break and spent three years in construction. During this time, the support of my girlfriend and friends reignited my passion for food, ultimately inspiring the creation of Black Market Food Co.
While my restaurant experience provided invaluable skills, I felt a disconnection with guests. Transitioning to become a private chef has allowed me to enjoy the best of both worlds.
The blend of my love for meeting new people, rekindling old friendships, and the art of cooking align seamlessly with my business plan, aimed at bringing the joy of good food to people in the comfort of their homes or at private events.
There's nothing that brings me greater happiness.

I've dedicated over 20 years to the culinary world
A journey that began with a desire to take a year off for travel, but my parents urged me to attend college. After a year of community college that I found uninspiring, I enrolled in cooking school at SAIT in Calgary. My culinary journey took a pivotal turn when I started my apprenticeship at the Banff Springs Hotel.
Post-apprenticeship, I ventured to Thailand, exploring its diverse islands. Returning, I worked at a golf course, rising to the role of chef by the age of 24. Looking back, I realized I needed to redefine my culinary style. To achieve this, I returned to the line in a few reputable Calgary restaurants before reclaiming the title of chef and eventually moving to Grande Prairie.
Now, I find myself in a space where creativity flourishes, liberated from the constraints of predefined notions about how food should be prepared, cooked, and presented. It's a journey of evolution and self-discovery in the pursuit of my culinary passion.

When I'm not capturing videos and photos of Casey cooking his culinary delights, you can find me in the garage working on wood signs, cuddling my cats, and eagerly anticipating a delicious snack from Casey.
